July 27th

Alexander slept really well last night. He woke up around 4:00 am for a feeding. He didn't cry though, we just heard him in the crib talking and playing. Back to bed about 5:00 until 7:00. My new nickname for seniór, Mr. Alarm Clock.

The bags finally arrived yesterday around 4:00. Great to have our things. Amazingly, the three bottles of wine we brought as gifts for people arrived without incident. Once coming from St. John we brought home a bottle of coconut rum with disastrous results, although it was kind of nice smelling coconut on my t-shirts for months after.

Things are going really well, Alexander seems to have really taken to us. He loves playing the jump game, this kid has so much energy!

We went for a walk to the supermarket to get some better fitting diapers and some dish detergent for washing spoons, toys, etc. It's "a little" (un pocito - thanks Tia Katie!) hot today but considering we are so close to the equator it is surprisingly moderate. I keep joking that we had to come to Colombia from Rochester to cool off! It actually is more pleasant here. Cali is surrounded by mountains and a breeze comes down into the valley and keeps things cool. Even though the humidity is high it is pretty comfortable and at night it is amazing. I hope I don't jinx myself, but so far I think I may have seen only three mosquitoes and things are actually pretty open here at the hotel. The dining room has huge windows that only have iron bars so you get a lot of nice fresh air from outside.

Alexander seemed very content in the carrier and it was nice to walk around. The pollution is really bad here though. It smells as though the cars here run on diesel, I'm not sure though. People drive muy loco here, this coming from someone who lived in NYC for ten years. The traffic is unbelievable.

Xander is down for a nap right now. I think we may take him to the pool later today. He LOVES taking baths so I think he will love the pool.

I forgot to mention before, the first morning we woke up to what sounded like a tropical bird and a monkey in a fight to the death, I think the monkey won. It's been less eventful the last two days.

Thank you so much for the pictures. I am loving every minute of your fantastic journey. The only thing better than this would be to hold Alexander myself. Glad things are going so smoothly, he seems so content, as do you. Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings. Hugs and kisses to you all - love grandma and grandpa deluna
