August 6th

Well, it's about 3:45 in the afternoon and no word about court so I guess it's not happening. It's so maddening that we are left in the dark like this.

We went to the public market this morning with Enrique and other guests from the hotel. He showed us around and we got to have a taste of some of the exotic fruits from Colombia.

Here's the market from the outside, doesn't look like much but this actually seemed like a pretty touristy place. Lots a little shops with souvenirs around here.

Enrique said that the poor people of Colombia who can't afford medicine buy herbs at markets like this one to cure ailments.

We heard some commotion from another part of the market. "What's that noise?" Kristin asked looking in that direction. Well, it's coming from the meat department. That's what you call fresh. This little piggy went to market...

Do you want your brains with eyeballs or without?

I know that's gross, but the reality is that a lot of people around the world eat things that we would consider absolutely un-palatable because it's what they can afford. Enrique said one thing that people do with the eyes is blend them with chocolate and drink it. He said he's never tried it.

Apparently a common thing to do in the markets is to place produce like cheese on banana leaves to keep it cool. We sampled this cheese and it was indeed cool.

Enrique bought us all beers and we took at 10 minute break. Baby tried to drink mine. Learn to crawl and get you own!

The rest of the day will probably be spend hanging around the hotel.

Oh guys, I'm so sorry for you that court didn't happen! How frustrating it must be to not be in the comfort of your own home! I'm sorry to say this, but it looks so depressing there! The market looked scary to me, but the fruit sure looked good! You could have left the brains out! LOL YUK!!!! I'm hoping you are home soon, you will surely appreciate your home even more now! Just know I love you all!

That market looks really cool. I'd love to check that out one day. Are you re-thinking vegetarianism now, Dan? No? Ok.

As gross as that looked, I'm sure it was much better than that 'meat in a tube' that I ate in the Adirondacks. haha

Hope your court date comes soon, guys. xoxox

I LOVE market places. I wish we had more like that in he states. If you have to stay too much longer, you and Uncle Kristin can use all the market ingredients to invent chocolate eyeball smoothies. Protein, vitamins, and you could even throw in some herbs accordingly. You could start a business and make a fortune. Keep thinking positive. As maddening as it is, it's a small speck of time comapared to your future at home with sweet Xander.

The market place is really neat. Like a famers market. The fruit all looks so good. Could do without the chocolate and eyeballs though. Ha Ha
Will keep praying that your court date will come soon. Love You
